Our walk!

We decided to go for a walk since it was so sunny and nice out. We went to a park not to far from here.
On our way back we went a different way and ended up behind our apartments. It is wooded back there and so peaceful. We kept walking around on the paths that are there. Some of them were very muddy and we had to turn around. we ran into a guy walking his dog and it was a big dog. She was real sweet. She was a Great Dane, I think the dog was in charge of walking though. It was fun and they both enjoyed it very much and want to go back soon. I will wait for a little less mud though. When we returned Deron had brought with him half of the path that was muddy. Desirae had slipped and found herself in the creek so she has a few bruises to show, not quiet so much mud. I had some on my shoes so the shoes and Deron's pants found their way to the washer. Bleach works wonders on Lite cream pants and shoes.
Deron is adjusting well to part time school and part time Home school. Struggles some with science and Social Studies but over all he is doing a great job.
He wants to go back to school next year. I am glad to let him try. We are working on learning more coping skills so he can learn to cope with school. Going part time has helped allot. He is learning better how to cope and it is in small doses so it has been easier for him. It still hurts him that kids pick on him and bully him, but we are learning how to best deal with that.
He has been building with his Lego's and Kinexs so that keeps him busy. He loves rocks so he studies those as well. He also enjoys video games. A bit to much for me sometimes so I have to set limits. He has been good with those limits for the most part.
The new thing for Deron is he is sleeping without the TV on at night as much. It has been a struggle but we are getting better. The Sleep study he had showed his brain not stopping so his sleep was disrupted.
Thus the no TV at night.

They all had fun and played hard. Deron made several baskets for his team and they worked well together as a team.
They came in second with a silver medal. They are waiting to see if they get called to state.

We had a blast last night. We had Waffles with Blueberry topping(Homemade) with Whip cream on top, Sparkling Apple Cranberry cider for dinner. Candy and soda of their choice. Deron chose Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar and Fanta Orange. We played clue and then they beat me on Mario Kart on the WII,(not telling how bad) we then camped out in the living room and watched Toy Story 3.
We all enjoyed our time together.

A Day in the life of Deron

His day starts around 8 am in the morning, I go in and try and wake him up. Once he is up Breakfast and off to take Desirae to school.
We then come home to start Deron's school day.
He is reading "Seekers" "Smoke Mountain" By " Erin Hunter".
Then off to do Language, spelling, Vocab, Then Math and Science and Social Studies.
He also does Music, (Learning the guitar) and PE( Basketball) and also is learning to cook ect. We have fun and get alot done in a short amount of time.
He struggles in a few subjects but for the most part is doing a great job.
He also finds time to build with his leggos or kinexs and play video games on our WII.
Right now he is playing on my phone (Angry Bird). Pretty typical day.
Family game night here, not sure what will be playing but it will be a blast.
Chips and popcorn a must oh yes and a soda! Waffles with fresh blueberry topping and whip cream are in order for dinner.
Then off to bed.
Deron is an amazing kid and I love him. He is insightful and has alot to say. He asks some pretty tough questions about God. Some of which I can't answer.
It is hard being a single parent at times with a kid whom has special needs. There is always challenges and upsets. Watching him be hurt by others, watching him struggle in building relationships.
My prayer for Deron is,
Dear Jesus, please bring Deron a friend who is a true friend, one whom will be there and stand up for what is right. One whom won't pick on him and make fun of him but will stand with him when others choose to do that to Deron.I pray Deron will grow up and be a godly young man and an example to others. God has a wonderful plan for you Deron. remember you are awesome and worth alot in God's eyes, you are valuable.
Amen

Hi I am Carolyn Fenton mother of two wonderful children whom happen to have special needs. I am going to introduce you to my son Deron.

Deron is a 13 year old young man whom happens to have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and a seizure disorder. This dosen't define who is. He is like any other person. He wants to have friends. One of the problems for Deron is that he dosen't read social cues well and mis reads peoples faces or emotions. He seems different to others. Part of Deron's brain didn't form like our brains did,do to the choice his birthmom made during her pregancy with Deron. This is a birth defect. However this is not Deron's fault that his brain is different than most. He looks totally normal to others so it is hard to understand he actually has a disability, which makes it hard for Deron to fit in. People mis understand him and mis treat him because they don't realize the hidden disability.

Deron is a wonderful young man whom I am very proud to be his adoptive mom. I am very thankful that God has placed Deron into our family. Deron is also apart of a much bigger family, the family of God. He longs to feel accepted into his church family. He is like anyone of you in that respect.

Deron enjoys video games and is quiet good at them I might add, he also likes Pokemon, Bowling, Basketball and snow, sledding and a fair snowball fight. He also likes to tell jokes and does some magic.

He loves to laugh and I think he is a handsome young man. He has Jesus in his heart and he was baptized in September of this past year.

If you know anything about Autisim then you could learn to relate to Deron as he has alot of those kinds of traits.

Loud noise can bother Deron and being in close proximity to others can be hard for him. (Personal space) He also needs to be reminded of others personal space. These are just a few things. One big thing is about being fair. It is harder for him to handle things when he feels they aren't fair.If you want to know more about Deron then try to get to know him you may find like I do and others that he really is a cool young man.

Well this a little bit about Deron I hope you enjoyed meeting him through the eyes of his mom.
